PAUL BARA

The Bara estate was built in Bouzy 1860 and the legend grower Paul Bara was one of the first growers to start selling champagne under his own label in the 1950s. He was joined by his daughter Chantale in the 1980, and after his death the estate is run by the sisters Evelyne and Chantale. The winemaker today is Chantale's husband Christian Forget,  a specialist for Pinot Noir.

All the 33 parcels of vineyards are situated in Bouzy and have Grand Cru status. 9,5 hectares are planted to Pinot Noir and the remaining 1,5 to Chardonnay. The sunny slopes of Bouzy provide ripe grapes and the philosophy of the house is to enhance the fruitiness through avoiding the malolactic conversion and using predominantly steel tank for fermentation and maturation.

Having always held high standards in the vineyard respecting the environment, in 2020 Champagne Paul Bara was awarded the HVE and VDC certifications.
